Training and Career Development
1-8-1. (Authorized by K.S.A. 75-3747; effective May 1, 1979; revoked May 31, 1996.)
1-8-2. Orientation. (a) Each appointing authority shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining a program of orientation for new employees.
(b) Each orientation shall be relevant to each of the following:
(1) That agency’s mission, vision, and goals;
(2) the employee’s job responsibilities;
(3) employee benefits; and
(4) other aspects of the workplace pertinent to successful performance in the position.
(c) Any agency may supplement the orientation information required above with specific agency materials.

1-8-3. Training standards. Each appointing authority shall periodically assess, identify, and provide that agency’s employees with access to appropriate education and training to meet workforce development needs. 1-8-4. Agency training records. Each appointing authority shall maintain training records and provide these records to the director upon request. This regulation shall be effective on and after June 5, 2005. 1-8-6. Leadership training programs. Each appointing authority shall develop and maintain a leadership program to provide supervisory training of an appropriate scope for each employee appointed to a supervisory position and for each employee currently working in a supervisory position in the agency. Each appointing authority shall provide access to training and opportunities for continuing education and development for each employee in a supervisory position. This regulation shall be effective on and after June 5, 2005.
