Preference
Information about Preference
The State of Kansas has several hiring preferences as part of its process of placing qualified candidates within state agencies. One of these preferences is for State of Kansas employees who lose employment because of a reduction in force due to actions beyond their control. This preference is available to employees who lose employment due to actions taken by the federal government and provides those employees with a preference in seeking other State of Kansas employment, in recognition of the employee's service to the State of Kansas. This preference works in conjunction with and is subordinate to the statutory disability or veteran preferences.
