Office of Public Affairs

Welcome to the Office of Public Affairs. The office is charged with executing internal and external communications for the Department of Administration, including contact with media, assisting with Kansas Open Records Act requests and coordinating with other agency public information officers. The agency publishes a monthly newsletter, Connected, that is distributed to all Department of Administration employees.

The office also serves as the legislative liaison between the agency and the Kansas Legislature. The office works with legislators, the governor's office and other state agencies on policy matters and provides information to help guide decisions.

Governor Laura Kelly has delcared Inclement Weather from 2:00 PM Tuesday, 1/22/19 through 11:59 PM, Tuesday, 1/22/19

Governor Laura Kelly has declared Inclement Weather from 2:00 PM Tuesday 01/22/19 through 11:59PM, Tuesday, 01/22/19 for benefits eligible non-essential State of Kansas Executive Branch employees, who work in Shawnee County.  Appointing authorities in offices located outside Shawnee County have the option to declare Inclement Weather for those counties.

A reassessment of the weather conditions will be made at a later time to determine if this declaration will be extended. Please check http://www.kansas.gov/employee/ after 9:00 PM tonight (1/22/19) for additional information regarding reporting to work on Wednesday 1/23/19.

Note: This declaration does not include employees in the Board of Regents, Regents Institutions, the Judicial Branch, nor the Legislative Branch of Government. Their designated representative will make a separate declaration for those employees if appropriate.
