Office of Public Affairs

Welcome to the Office of Public Affairs. The office is charged with executing internal and external communications for the Department of Administration, including contact with media, assisting with Kansas Open Records Act requests and coordinating with other agency public information officers.

The office also serves as the legislative liaison between the agency and the Kansas Legislature. The office works with legislators, the Governor's Office and other state agencies on policy matters and provides information to help guide decisions.

Employees honored for service to the State of Kansas

Friends, families and co-workers gathered Sept. 13 to honor a group of employees who are celebrating their lengthy service to the State of Kansas.

Employees were presented with service pins for 40 years and 50 years of service to the State. The event was held in the Rotunda of the Kansas Statehouse. Thirty of the 40-year recipients were present for the event.

DSC_3555Gov. Brownback thanked the employees for the dedication and professionalism they have demonstrated during their tenure with the State. A reception was held immediately following the event.

Honorees noted in their biographies that they had witnessed many changes in Kansas government over the years, including the advent of the first computerized systems and expanded duties as agency missions changed over the decades.

Employees honored represented the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of government, including several from Kansas Board of Regents Institutions.

Sarah L. Shipman, Secretary of Administration, served as emcee for the event.
