Employees gather for annual summer picnic at Statehouse

Jun 25, 2015

Picnic at Kansas Statehouse

A mix of rock n’ roll and other backyard tunes set the tone for a fun and relaxing picnic as employees gathered for good food and fellowship on the South Steps of the Statehouse lawn for the annual Employee Appreciation Picnic.

The event kicked off early Wednesday, June 24, as grilling began to prepare enough hamburgers and hot dogs to feed around 250 Department of Administration employees. Guests were able to grab a burger and a dog, a bag of chips, a can of soda and find a seat in the shade of the Statehouse lawn. To top it off, desert was provided from the ice cream truck before heading back to work.

Crews from the Office of Facilities and Property Management helped with set up for the event and the department directors helped grill, serve food and keep the buffet lines filled.

"It was a beautiful day and a great opportunity to say thanks to our employees for all of the hard work they do to make this agency successful,” said Secretary Jim Clark.
