In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down on Sunday, Oct. 12 in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
“Firefighters perform acts of heroism every single day and some have made the ultimate sacrifice for our communities,” Governor Brownback said. “They deserve our respect and recognition.”
On Oct. 16, 2011 President George W. Bush approved legislation requiring the American flag to be lowered to half-staff on all federal buildings to memorialize fallen firefighters in conjunction with the annual observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
