Governor Sam Brownback joined with the Kansas Department of Administration on Friday, Sept. 12, in honoring more than 100 state employees who have served the state for more than 40 years.
Brownback and KDOA Secretary Jim Clark awarded an official service pin celebrating the longevity of each honoree who completed either 40 or 50 years of service during the past fiscal year 2014. The ceremony, held in the first floor rotunda of the Statehouse in Topeka, brought together employees from the three branches of government.
Brownback shared a quote by Mother Teresa, in which she said we will most be remembered for the people we have loved, and the people who have loved us.
“You have loved a lot of people in your careers, and a lot of people have loved you,” said Brownback. “You have made a difference in your career and our state is better for it.”
Six employees, all from Kansas Regents institutions, were honored for having been employed by the state for 50 years.
