Will employees have the option of converting their basic group life insurance into an individual policy?

If the employee is in a benefits eligible position then they will continue to be covered through KPERS until 31 days from the last day on payroll. The employee may convert the policy into an individual policy (either portability or whole life). The Portability Election form or Conversion form (whole life) must be completed and sent to The Standard within 60 days of the date coverage would otherwise have terminated. The employee is responsible for the premiums, which is at a higher rate.
