The Motorist Assistance Program is a joint project between the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Department of Transportation. Motorist assist technicians are assigned to the Kansas City, Salina, Topeka, and Wichita areas. Technicians perform services to help keep travelers safe on the roads, help get them back on the road should their vehicle break down, and help aid in the flow and direction of traffic. This measure identifies the response time for a motorist assistant technician to reach the stranded motorist.

In some cases, quarterly data has been annualized to provide a better comparison to prior fiscal years. Generally, measures that use percentages have been annualized. This prevents distortions in the quarterly data that may occur because of smaller populations sizes. Measures that show the numbers of incidents, activities or individuals reflect actual numbers for the quarter. This allows users to see progress from one quarter to the next towards identified goals.
