This position is in the Overland Park Taxpayer Assistance and Call Center in the Revenue Recovery Bureau. Provides professional customer service by providing guidance and education to customers by phone, fax, e-mail and in person. Requires extensive knowledge of all tax types administered by KDOR. Guides customers in their preparation and submission of tax returns. Requires knowledge of all 24 individual income tax and all ten refundable income tax credits and corresponding schedules and allowable modifications to federal adjusted gross income. Prepares homestead tax returns and food sales tax refunds making sure to obtain proper documentation- electronically filing 90% of these returns. Analyze taxpayer needs by reviewing completed business tax applications and assist customers in completing application by consultation. Reviews information to ensure accuracy and compliance with Kansas statutes and regulations. Educates customers on completion of required returns, exemptions, tax credits, estimated income tax payments, filing requirements, statutes, regulations and record keeping. Answers questions and communicates resolution of issues for customers via the department’s website. Assists customers with questions regarding KBC and SST business registration, helping them navigate through on-line registration process when necessary.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED FOR EVERY APPLICANT:

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. Applicants are responsible for submitting a valid certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. This is in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience in interviewing, investigating or providing technical assistance to clients, customers, or the public, and two years of experience or education in auditing or accounting support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
