Job Description:

Job Duty Description:    This is technical work in the installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of electronic devices and equipment.  Work involves applying basic principles and techniques of electronics to calibrate, repair, modify and maintain a variety of less complex electronic devices and equipment.  Assists in the construction or modification of electronic equipment and devices. Calibrates, repairs, cleans and lubricates electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and devices.  Sets up electronic equipment for laboratory experiments and checks for proper operation.  Inspects, troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance on various electronic medical monitors and equipment.  Maintains inventory control records.

Minimum Qualifications:  Two years of experience in electronic repair. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Performance Standards:  Knowledge of principles and techniques of applied electronics.  Knowledge of the construction, use and operation of basic electronic devices and equipment.  Knowledge of the calibration, repair, maintenance and operation of less complex electronic equipment and devices.  Ability to read and understand electronic and electrical specifications, diagrams and manuals.  Ability to analyze wiring diagrams and use standard electronic test equipment and bench tools.

Selection Process:  Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval.  A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver’s License.

 

Veteran Preference Eligible (VPE):  This position is eligible for veterans’ preference.  Interested veterans must submit a DD-214 to the Department of Administration to be verified as a veteran under K.S.A. 73-201 prior to the vacancy close date.  Verified veterans who meet the selection criteria for this position will be invited for an interview.
