Job Summary:

Performing data management duties for the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s adoption of the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS). This includes but is not limited to:

Performs inspection report audits and weekly inspection reviews to ensure inspections are uniform across the state for all staff, which will support safe products that are necessary to promote and grow agribusinesses in Kansas, as well help the program meet Food Regulatory Program Standards.

Develops, coordinates, and manages the program's sampling program. This includes training inspection staff and being the lead sample collector. This helps the program ensure a safe food supply, which protects public health and safety and enhances consumer confidence.

Manages HACCP reviews and variance approval process including tracking submissions, field approvals, program approvals, drafting approval or denial letters, and attaching the letters and other documentation into USAFoodSafety license records.

Promotes agribusiness by coordinating and performing plan reviews for new food businesses and remodels of existing food businesses. Ensures that licensing requirements are addressed in the plans and offers compliance assistance to prevent costly changes after construction. Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $42,000/Year

Desired Qualifications:

·            Bachelor’s degree. Experience may be substituted for education as determined relevant by the agency.

·            Two years’ experience performing food inspections and in compliance and enforcement work preferred.

·            Basic computer skills

·            Above average spelling and typing skills necessary

·            Strong oral and written communication skills

·            Knowledge of laws and regulations adopted and used by this program

·            Ability to communicate in a professional manner and to maintain a pleasant and helpful attitude in dealing with others.

·            Must be able to obtain and maintain commissioning by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
