Job Description:

The Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Technology Support Supervisor – KDOC Central Office, Topeka KS.  The Technology Support Supervisor is responsible for Information Technology Systems and the supervision of the Central Office and Northern Parole IT Staff. This position is also responsible for development, design, deployment, maintenance, and support of Information Technology Systems including Domain Administration, Server Administration, Hardware, Video Conferencing Equipment, and Software support of PC based systems with an emphasis on quality user support. This position may be requested to provide assistance outside of their immediate area of responsibility. This position may also be called upon to participate in other IT department lead initiatives.

Salary: $48,484.80 - $57,428.80 depending on demonstrated skills and experience. Unclassified (At-Will), Full-Time, Exempt, Benefits Eligible.

Train, coach or mentor individuals performing IT functions, to accomplish tasks and enhance development of skills and abilities. Recruit, hire, retain, supervise, or support the professional growth of individuals performing IT functions. Provides inmate user support via instruction sets and documented deliverables. Provides training to other Information Technology Support staff to assist with Roll Out Operations and support issues.

Responsible for both LAN and WAN connectivity and security of those networks related to Inmate Systems. Define or plan projects to improve Inmate Information Systems or to support the organization’s Business functions with information technology, consistent with the organization’s strategic IT plan, information architecture and technological direction. Using assigned project resources (staff, space, equipment and funds) and coordinating involvement by managers, stakeholders and users, produce or document system additions or changes which meet project objectives and quality standards. Apply assigned resources to complete IT projects on schedule and within budget; produce required management reports and make project presentations.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and three years advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Skills and/or QualificationsOne year Windows Server and client administration; One year VMware administration experience; Independent work experience in Information Technology management; Two years network administration related experience in installation and maintenance of PC systems, virtual infrastructure, Remote Desktop deployment and system continuity.
