The incumbent of this position, under the supervision of the Business Manager, will direct the administration of financial accounting and reporting for the Kansas Department of Corrections centralized inmate banking unit located within the Lansing Correctional Facility. Manages the daily operation of the inmate trust fund through supervision, review, and assignment of functions for the system-wide population of approximately 8,500 inmate accounts. Provides oversight of account statement preparation, ensures continuous reconciliation of agency and bank records, and prepares financial reports for Trust and Imprest funds. Ensures electronic transfer of funds occurs as required. Monitors funds on deposit in various financial institutions and ensures deposits meet promulgated requirements. Functions as liaison with other Department of Corrections facilities and outside entities on inmate trust fund related matters.

Starting Annual Salary: $41,870.40
Minimum Requirements: Three years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Skills: A bachelor’s degree in business or related field with a minimum of 6 credit hours in accounting coursework, knowledge and experience with Excel and QuickBooks, complex, multiple account reconciliation, and supervisory experience. Knowledge of electronic fund transfer helpful.
Necessary Qualifications: Must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Minimum Competencies: Applicant will be able to interact with co-workers, and outside personnel to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
