The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) currently has a vacancy for an unclassified Administrative Officer. The KCC is the public utilities commission of the State of Kansas run by three Commissioners appointed by the Governor with the approval of the Senate.  The Commission has the responsibility of ensuring that natural gas, electricity, telephone and transportation vendors provide safe, adequate and reliable services at reasonable rates.

The Administrative Officer will perform functions and duties of the Energy Division and serve as support staff for the Docket Room.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of office administrative tasks independently including composing office correspondence or reports, proofs and edits correspondence. Prepares documents requiring use of advanced software features that includes integration of spreadsheets, queries, charts, graphics, tables and multiple databases.

  • Relay and explain policy and program decisions to the general public, other agencies and public officials.

  • Review and recommends technological and procedural changes to ensure compliance with policies and grant requirements and be able to convey those decision to the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Responds to request for information from individuals inside and outside the commission related to docket filings and energy division programs and resources.

  • Assists with the accepting/rejecting of documents through the e-filing electronic system and/or paper copies and posting all necessary information accurately into the docket management system.

  • Ensures appropriate and accurate information is maintained in the docket management system.

  • Assist with the accurate processing of Commission Orders through the docket management system with the pertinent information from the documents and orders, including deadlines, schedules, hearing dates, meeting times, staff assignments, opening and closing dockets.

  • Assists to maintain and update record retention requirements for the agency.

  • Provide input to the design of databases and retrieval of data in order to generate reports from databases.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for various energy programs.

  • Coordinate activities of KCC staff with contractors, track contractors performance and maintain grant reporting requirements.

Minimum Requirements: Four years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability organize and coordinate work of peers. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and archives. Experience with federal grant reporting a benefit. Experience with public sector contracting and procurement procedures a benefit. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Salary: $17.31 - $20.20 hourly
