This position reviews inactive business and income tax accounts to ensure debtor customers have been afforded due process prior to application of legal remedies. Prepares and processes tax warrants, satisfaction of judgment, and dismissal. Establishes payment plans and wage assignments to resolve state tax debts. Examines and processes returns and supporting documentation for all ASTRA and Legacy tax types. Reviews accounts placed with the 3rd party vendors and has contact with the 3rd party vendors on a daily basis providing information, advice, and direction regarding the accounts. Apprise the 3rd party vendor of adjustments made to the accounts placed with them for collection. Makes necessary adjustments to accounts in the accounting systems by assessing or abating tax, penalty, and/or interest. Processes low balance PFA's and contacts the customer debtor with the outcome and updates the assigned vendor with the correct balance. Contact is made with debtor customers via telephone, written correspondence, as well as face to face communication.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: KBI check due to direct access to Federal Tax Information in taxpayer records.
KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED FOR EVERY APPLICANT:

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: One year experience in interviewing, investigating or providing technical assistance to clients, customers, or the public, and one year experience or education in auditing or accounting support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
