This position manages a caseload of assigned offenders, assisting them with adjustment into incarceration, program completion, rule compliance, release planning, and reintegration into the community at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. This position requires ongoing proactive communication and interaction with offenders that is designed to apply cognitive programming to disrupt, rather than reinforce, antisocial behavior and inappropriate reactions to situations. Maintains electronic offender files with timely and accurate documentation in the Total Offender Activity Documentation System (TOADS) and the Offender Management Information System (OMIS). Multiple vacancies may be filled.
A Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences. Experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency*.
*Agency Approved Substitution:
Completion of 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university which includes 12 hours of corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences or the behavioral sciences; and two years of experience in adult corrections.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications (may be used to screen applicants):
- Two years of experience working in adult corrections in addition to the Minimum Requirement education or Agency Approved Substitution.
To be successful, the expectation is that a candidate will be able to competently perform the routine tasks of the position with limited supervision by the end of a one year probationary period.
