Job Description:

This position manages a caseload of assigned offenders, assisting them with adjustment into incarceration, program completion, rule compliance, release planning, and reintegration into the community at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. This position requires ongoing proactive communication and interaction with offenders that is designed to apply cognitive programming to disrupt, rather than reinforce, antisocial behavior and inappropriate reactions to situations. Maintains electronic offender files with timely and accurate documentation in the Total Offender Activity Documentation System (TOADS) and the Offender Management Information System (OMIS).  Multiple vacancies may be filled.

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences. Experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency*.

*Agency Approved Substitution:

Completion of 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university which includes 12 hours of corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences or the behavioral sciences; and two years of experience in adult corrections.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications (may be used to screen applicants):

  • Two years of experience working in adult corrections in addition to the Minimum Requirement education or Agency Approved Substitution.

Performance Standards:

To be successful, the expectation is that a candidate will be able to competently perform the routine tasks of the position with limited supervision by the end of a one year probationary period.  Must be capable of performing established Essential Functions.  A full position description and essential functions for this classification can be obtained by contacting the recruited listed below.

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate:

In accordance with Executive Order 2004-03, each applicant (including current employees) applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a State Tax Clearance Certificate by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue website at

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws.

Applicants who fail to provide a Tax Clearance Certificate will not be considered.  When you request the certificate, it will give you a transaction ID#.  The transaction ID# is NOT a tax clearance.  You will need the transaction ID# to be able to retrieve the certificate 24 hours later.  You will need to return to the Department of Revenue website to do this (select "View Status").  You can then e-mail the Tax Clearance Certificate to me.

Selection Process:
After the job posting close date, application materials are reviewed to determine eligibility. Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using primarily performance/behavior based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. Applicants are subject to background check and criminal history investigation and must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position with the same agency.
