If you have a love for Kansas history and would like to share this with others, then you may be interested in becoming an alternate at Red Rocks State Historic Site to operate the site in the absence of the site administrator. Location: 927 North Exchange St., Emporia, KS
Hours are sporadic, and are not to exceed 120 hours per year. Must be able to work weekdays and/or Saturdays. Must be responsible to handle all aspects of running the site, including but not limited to opening and closing procedures, collecting admissions, greeting visitors and conducting tours, interpreting the history of the site, operating the gift shop, and monitoring the physical site.
Applicants need a working knowledge of Kansas history and a willingness to learn about the Red Rocks Historic Site. Completion of a bachelor's degree in history or liberal arts degree or working towards a degree is preferred. Experience as an employee or volunteer in a museum setting can be substituted.
Applicants should have a willingness to learn the tour interpreter’s manual and have a general affinity for history. Must be self-motivated and able to work mostly without direct supervision.
This is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits. Pay Rate: $7.56 per hour.
