This position resolves the most complex tax accounts of all tax types that may require the use of legal remedies. A high degree of analysis and independent judgement is required as the work is diverse, specialized and technical. As a representative of second tier collections, communicates with taxpayers, attorneys, CPA's and other professional representatives. Explains applicable laws, policies, procedures and regulations to taxpayer. Employee may be exposed to uncomfortable working situations when relating to disgruntled taxpayers via phone or face-to-face. Creates and executes tax warrants, seizes bank accounts, establishes wage assignments, payment plans, garnishments, makes recommendations for abatements, initiates refunds and prepares referrals for audit, criminal investigations or seizure. Completes reports and documents all transactions in account history. Must project professional demeanor at all times, be ethical, flexible and able to maintain strict confidentiality.

A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience in interviewing, investigating or providing technical assistance to clients, customers, or the public, and two years of experience or education in auditing or accounting support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
