This is an unclassified long term special project position at the Topeka Correctional Facility. This position will supervise an inmate work crew of 5 to 7 female inmates that will provide major and minor rehabilitation projects for the City of Topeka and their partners. The crew leader should have experience in inspecting residential structures, writing rehabilitation specs, preparing cost estimates, managing residential construction projects, to include interior and exterior repairs and in some cases new construction. At the direction of the City of Topeka, the supervisor and inmates may be assigned to assist on other similar city infrastructure construction or repair projects. The supervisor is required to provide on the job training and instruction to the assigned inmates and is responsible for ensuring that work completed meets the standards of the trade and the specifications established by the City of Topeka. As a supervisor of inmates, the supervisor must provide for the security and accountability for the inmates at all times and ensure compliance with Kansas Department of Corrections and Topeka Correctional Facility rules, regulations, policies, procedures and established orders.

- If not currently a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with the KDOC you will be required to complete a physical examination.
Journey/advanced level experience in construction or building trades. Kansas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Drug Screening and Background Check.
Minimum Requirements Required:
Must meet all minimum qualifications and necessary special requirements for Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Four years of experience in general maintenance and housing construction. Carpentry, masonry, and concrete experience a must.
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. This position requires at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another designated position within the same agency; possess a valid driver’s license
Four years of experience in managing residential construction projects. Journey/advanced level experience in construction or building trades
